I appreciate your comments ladies (: I still allow my 7 year old to breast feed from me but she will only want to if she is extremely tired or if she is sick. there's been times we have been laying together in bed and she will ask and of course I let her .... just didn't know if I should stop her completely since she is 7 years old

I plan to let my daughter self wean, I have no set limit. If her and I still want to bf after she turns three then I will. If she decides to self wean before she turns three, then that's her choice! When she's old enough I'll teach her my boundaries and if I'm still BFing when she's four or five then I'll let it be known that she can't just pull my boob out in the middle of the store and start eating lol. By Then it's usually a once a week or for comfort kinda thing, and if I stop producing between the times she wants to bf, then that means our journey is over! If I have another child after I dry up and she gets jealous and wants special mommy and her time by BFing then I'll let her. Usually by that age she'll try it and not like the taste of the milk. People take the whole thing too seriously and sexualize it a lot. Just because the child is older doesn't mean it's any different. America and the uk are the two main places where it's normal to stop between 6 months to a year. Everywhere else extended breastfeeds and it's recommended by the WHO for 2 years and beyond. its not just good for nutrients, it also really helps their brain functioning and helps them develop skills. Knowing they can rely on you for Something so important to them helps their confidence and independence sky rocket! Extended breast fed children are often known to be less "clingy" and dependent on their parents.

I agree with @bria.k... I plan on breastfeeding until my little one decides enough is enough. I can't put an age on it. saying she's too old for her to breastfeed is like telling a person they're too fat to keep eating😕😒 I'd rather her drink my milk than cow's milk. did you know we're the only species that drink milk from a species different from our own voluntarily??? granted we're the only species that still drink milk as adults but that's besides the point😂

How long did you bf the 7 year old for? It's completely normal for her to be curious if she doesn't remember and sees baby doing it. I wouldn't be against letting her do it as it insights confidence, trust, maturity, and independence. I mean she's a little old to be starting back up but if she wants it for comfort then why not? That's what our boobies are there for!
