For the last week I've been trying to dry up my milk.. But I feel like nothing is working. I went from pumping every four hours to every eight hours now. And I pump for only about five minutes but I'm still getting a lot of milk. I've also been taking sudafed to help with the process, but that's not working either. And I can't use cabbage because I'm allergic. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to dry up quickly?? I don't want to quit cold turkey because I've already had mastitis twice and I'm scared of getting it again.
If you're wanting to dry up your milk you can't pump. At all. It's supply and demand and if you keep "demanding" or pumping your supply will keep coming. Wear a tight bra and you'll kinda just have to suffer for a few days
I guess I will just have to deal with the pain and stop being a wimp lol. @their.bomb.ass.mom
Mine was the same. I had to just go through it. I never got mastitis though. The tight bra just kept them from moving around.
I try to go longer without pumping but my boobs hurt so bad and they get sooo hard and red so I have to pump to make them feel better. Wearing a tight bra is what caused my mastitis also. This is so stressful. Ugh. 😒 @their.bomb.ass.mom
The only way I dried my milk up, I was told to not touch them or get any milk out that just makes your body produce more. I wore a tight bra with 2 breast pads in each, and took ibuprofen or an anti inflammatory every 4 hours. dried up within 3-4 days.
@ngujen, I'm so scared to stop pumping because I definitely do not want to get mastitis again. The lactation consultant told me to slowly wean myself from pimping but it's not working. I might just have to stop completely and hope the mastitis doesn't come back. 😕
I guess I'm just gonna have to stop completely and pray I dont get mastitis again. That's the only reason I'm scared to quit cold turkey. @their.bomb.ass.mom
