Its a shame my daughter doesn't like her skin color because of the way society sees it. I try to tell her as much as possible that her skin is BEAUTIFUL and that people pay good money to have her skin color (tanning) and yet she still says shes too dark :( I wish she didnt have to feel that way about herself. No matter what you do to raise your kids, the rest of the world is still going to affect how they feel about themself =/
We always want what we can't have. 😞 She's beautiful and as she grows up she will learn to love herself entirely. ❤️ we all struggle growing up, especially us females because of this fucked up society we live in. It's sad to say that insecurities are something all of us deal with.
she just likes taylor swift =/ @new_mami87 the rest of what she likes to watch is cartoons or full house which is also just white people.
What about positive role models of different races either on tv, or in different fields like vets, and drs, teachers, some like girly stuff like models and others like military women that are of different skin tones?
exactly! like I would LOVE to be dark like her. Id have to ruin my skin just to get it that dark so I dont :(. I dont tell her I wish I was dark like her because i try to tell her that I love everything about myself just like she should. I feel like itll help her to have a positive outlook on herself later like if im happy with myself then she will learn to be happy with herself too. but i do tell her that other people want her skin color.
That taylor swift does a lot of things outside of music doesnt she? What about her fan page? She might have friend like Selena Gomez and stuff who are of different skin tones that she can be like ok well Taylor's bestie is totally not the dame skin tone and she loves her! I'm only a little familiar I may be totally wrong. I'm sure she will grow to accept and love herself with all your positive reinforcement. Don't let her forget she's beautiful and if you are this concerned I know you wont let her.
