ok as I get closer to the big day I am freaking out more and more about labour. I dont know whether I will get an epidural or not but I don't like the side effects, but I'm also not sure how I will handle the pain and how long I'll be in labour for since it's my first time. Did anyone else worry that they couldn't do natural but ended up getting through it?

I know! Hah it sucked but I did have an epidural which made it much more comfortable! Couldn't feel any contractions and even slept lol I agree! But some of them aren't! My mom was in labor with me for 7 hours early and active, guess it really all up to your body and how fast it dilated from the contractions 😛

Awe well that sucks! Of course! It's hard to tell right now it's more of a wait and see thing, you never know how high your pain tolerance is until it happens! 38 hours including early labor my contractions were 3 minutes apart lasting a minute long throughout early and active labor with my daughter, I was in active labor for 19 hours. With my son I was experiencing early labor contractions for 6 weeks before he was born, I didn't even know I was in labor the day he was born lol I hope so too! From experience the faster and smoother labours and deliveries and the best and I healed much faster with my son than I did my daughter (not sure if that's because of the difference in labor lengths or because he's my second baby lol ) that is very true they sometimes don't! But I wish you the best of luck and a fast, safe and quick labor and delivery 😊

the hospital I'm going to doesn't offer the walking epidural, I already checked because I was interested in it. I think it's all going to depend on how long I'm in labour for. when you say 38 hours, is that including early labour or is that active labour ? I know early labour can be irregular contractions and sometimes last days. . hopefully I'll be one of the lucky ones that has a short smooth labour lol but probably not. I'm trying to remember that anything can happen and that a lot of births don't go as planned so we'll see. thanks! @beautifulhazelxo

With my first I was in labor for 38 hours but stopped dilating at 5cm and had to get the epidural and an hour later be induced. I really wanted to go all natural and was so disappointed. I felt like my body failed me. But after being in labor for that long the epidural was a life saver! I had no side effects from it. With my son my labor went by so fast, 7 hours and I wanted to try all natural again, but my contractions at 6cm were so strong and frequent. I would get three contractions in a row sometimes more without a break and it was exhausting I got the walking epidural so I wasn't completely numb and still felt everything even my water breaking on it's own. Again I had no side effects! If you want to do an all natural birth i would totally try! But if you feel it's to painful and you can't get the epidural or another pain medication in the end it's completely your choice 😊 we have medications to help make labor and birthing a more comfortable experience for mothers! The only people I know that did it all natural was my mother, her sisters and my grandma haha

I know someone who was in labour for 45 hours all natural!! But hey, if you need the epidural, then get it, it's ultimately your decision!! Good luck girl!
