I'm a first time expecting mother and I just turned 16 weeks today, earlier in the day I thought I felt a thump and I'm not sure if it was the baby or not. I had a prenatal visit today and told the doctor this but I said I was unsure because I've never experienced pregnancy before so could it have been the baby or is it too soon?

It's likely, I felt movements around that time, and am also a first time mom.

I'm a first time mom too and I felt my first kick at 15 weeks so it could be the little one moving!

Possibly.But it could also be gas.You will definetly know when it's him/her moving.

At this point baby movements more of little flicks and butterflies. BUT totally possible it was your baby! You'll definitely know over the next week or two if it was baby!
