Just learned that my insurance (Cigna) wont reimburse me for over $2600 i paid for maternity costs. (3 ultrasounds, 6 doctor visits and tests). Now i have Tricare and dont have to pay anything. Sad i wont get that money back, but happy my baby is healthy so far. I would pay every dime i have for him to be born healthy. Insurance and healthcare in America is a fucking joke!

Yes with Tricare Prime you don't pay anything for OB care or giving birth. I Love our insurance and as a plus right now I was able to choose the Pediatrician I wanted for my children and my own PCM since we aren't close to a base right now. So we have civilian Docs which is better.

It sucks that you won't be reimbursed, but at least you got it before the biggest bill came rolling in lol. Giving birth is expensive. So, no worries anymore.

You're good then. 👌🏽 Either way, a copay would be very cheap tho.

You have tricare prime? Since getting out the navy, I opted for standard so that I wouldn't have to deal with Corpsman and navy personnel anymore and on standard, I only paid 50$. Prime, I believe is 100% covered.

The Tricare maternity is 0 covered right? @breloya

Well my previous insurance i dont have any copay. Nothing is covered until i meet $3000 deductible. Then its 80/20 coverage. I thought visits and labs had a copay but i called today and learned maternity all goes to deductible. So far what i know about Tricare maternity coverage is its 0 (ive only had it for a week so im not an expert lol) its undeniably cheaper but i think what most people complain about is not being able to pick doctors and having to use on base facilities. Better than spending an arm and a leg and still not guaranteed good coverage. I basically paid all that money for then to check urine, take blood pressure and check heart beat 😑 @caseclosed2015

I love tricare. I see people who have to copay thousands after giving birth. That bill is no joke either. From my bill: TRICARE payment and adjustments $10,062.19. And I'm just thanking God for a good insurance lol.

People actually complain about Tricare.... Maybe I don't know much about insurance since I joined at 19 and its been my insurance every since.... but I think we are so lucky to have it. The only thing now is since we aren't close to a base we have to fill our prescription at a local pharmacy and pay copay... but that's it.
