hey mommies its been awhile since i been on this app..been very busy but i have a question...im trying to put together a birthing plan...and the only thing i really really want is my baby to be with me at all times..i dont want her to be taken away to be cleaned or anything..they can do that with her on me...can any mommies give me anymore ideas..i would greatly appreciate it

i also wanted that but they didn't follow my birthing plan. they left her with me on my belly a few minutes then took her and set her on a little table like 2 feet away i couldn't move or see what they where doing and she was crying. i felt so angry but i got over it. they also took her to the neonatal nursery for a few hours after also to bath her and give her shots which i didn't found out until afterwards.

after that i told them i wanted her with me now so they left her with me on the room and she slept with me and i breastfed until we left the hospital.

something to think about is do you want visitors during labor or delivery, if so who, if put in there weather or not you want to be offered pain medication, weather or not you want an IV or to be continously monitored... weather you want to be able to get up and walk around the unit.. different things like that would be good to put in there

some hospitals allow you to be in complete control but some don't so you have to check with L&D when you do your precheck in.

@aphrodite2014, thats great info thank u.. i talked with my doctor a little bit bout things yesterday and she seemed to be on my side about things but thank u for ur help

sometimes they don't give you a choice. they have to take the baby when he or she first comes out so they can weigh her and make sure everything is okay and they have to take her to the nursery to do mandatory tests so that she will be able to go home when you do. this is my 3rd pregnancy and baby and they didn't follow what I wanted at all but I understood why they had to do those things after they explained. all hospitals are different though and its not always up to your Dr its up to labor and delivery. I hope you get the best experience and try not to stress too much! 😍

@tashi, your doctor can be on your side all day long but you have to make sure the nursing staff is on your side too because they are the ones that do most of the hands on assessments your doctor will more then likely just be there for delivery unless they are the on call doctor
