Do I need both a rock and play and a swing? I wanted to get a swing but got a rock and play at baby shower but really wanted a swing...anybody have both and use both ?

I have to figure out what to tell my aunt to buy me for the baby. I have: Crib Swing Bouncer Rock n Play Car Seats Stroller She is wanting to get me something I can use for him and that is not clothes. What else do I need???

@queendavis, It's super expensive but it would have been one of those purchases I would have been sweating at the register to buy but happy I got it lol but I also hate wasting money

Welcome :) ugh I feel ya I wanted the mamaroo soooo bad but couldn't bring myself to spend that much on it! If I would've known I was having my kids so close together I would've spent the money on it though. The swing I have for my son is a really nice one, I'll be using it for my daughter too. Let me find a pic of it!

I would Def have both. my daughter slept in the rock and play when she first came home. then to her crib. and the swing helps alot with fussy babies.

@queendavis, thanks girl! I wanted to get a mama roo but everyone I know keeps saying its a waste of money because baby grows it so fast so now I have to do research on a good swing and one that isn't noisy either

Just to add, the swing sat up too but it was just more of a thing that would put him to sleep. & the rock n play was what he would chill in when he was awake.

I had a rock n play and a swing for my son and I used both. He slept in the swing at night til he was like 3-4 months old and it was a lifesaver. During the day we pretty much used the rock n play because it sits up so he could see us and stuff, the swing was more for naps and night time. I didn't buy both though, they were baby shower gifts. If I had to pick one, I would probably pick the swing over the rock n play.
