I'm really struggling with breastfeeding & it's making me really upset. Nipples are so sore that last night I was actually feeding him blood! I have had to formula feed him the past two times but we did try breast first. He just doesn't latch on & we've tried all angles. I'm coming to my wits end and he is only 3 days old! Someone help!

I had this with my baby turned out he had tonguetie so wasn't able to latch on properly. Have they checked your baby for it worth asking if not.

Try stripping him down to just his nappy and when it's hurting and he isn't latched right then tickle/tub the bottom of his foot, my midwife said this guides them somehow and they want to bond more when it's skin to skin contact, worked wonders for me but everyone's different good luck xx

@laa286, @tiasohi1 @baby316 thanks ladies! I've spoken to a midwife and she showed me how it's just me and max do not compute yet. I'm expressing for now and visiting a load of drop in clinics next week to get help! He seems to like the bottles though!

There should be breastfeeding clinics that run near you or call your health visitor who will help. #lanolin cream is amazing and start putting that on several times a day. Express for now so he still gets your milk ... And get nipple guards ... They are fab xx

Breastfeeding is not easy. I struggled with my first baby she latched on ok but I just wasn't producing enough milk and she was hungry and very upset. My breasts and nipples were very sore and I called the breast feeding helpline who weren't much help to me. They said to put warm flannels on the breast to try and get the milk ducts working. Also have you got Lansinoh Lanolin cream to put on your nipples it's expensive but worth the money. Make sure you see your doctor thought if your breasts get too painful as you can get mastitis which is very uncomfortable but can easily be treated if caught at the right time. Hope this reassures you that you are not alone as I know a lot of family and friends make me feel bad for not breastfeeding but I just wanted my little girl to be happy and healthy. Xx

This is only my experience so u need to do what's best for u but I had this with my first. I tried for just over a week, I was sore got cut twice with loads of stitches. my nappies were sore and I got shooting pains through my breasts. baby didn't feed well and wouldn't settle and constantly wanting more. I gave up although a lot of people made me feel like a failure and gave into bottle. I had a lot of problems finding milk that she would keep down and since she won't drink milk. all of my other 3 have been bottle from start and have been fantastic. you know yourself what your body can do and what Is best for u and baby! whatever u decide don't let anyone think u have made wrong choice!! 😆xx
