Just broke down crying after giving my son formula. I feel like my body has betrayed me and I'm not able to be the mother that I wanted to be for him. First my body couldn't birth him naturally so I had to have a c-section now my milk isn't coming in. I'm feeding on demand and even though he had enough wet diapers as his mom I knew he wasn't getting enough. Giving him that bottle was the most peaceful I'd seen him all day and if be lying if I said it didn't hurt my heart to know I couldn't give that to him.
Thanks @des_a_rayy I feel better this afternoon. I'm going to keep trying...talk to his pediatrician today and she gave me some great advice and some formula made for breastfeeding babies who need supplementation. Just praying it comes in soon!
Thats what happend to me and I gave him a little bit of formula too but kept trying and my supply picked up like crazy, dont give up!!! Now were 3 months into breast feeding and he hates formula now lol
Awww. Just keep working at it, but never ever feel less of a mom just because things didn't turn out like you hoped. Most women hope to be able to breast feed but sometimes it just doesn't work. Chin up. :)
@princessvictoria, I'm just struggling because I know he's not satisfied he gets so frustrated on the breast because he's not getting enough even with nursing for 30 min each session. They checked his blood sugar a couple of times at the hospital and it was never low. I'm praying this was just a rough night because it's our first back home and I'm not able to move fast enough to get to him when he needs me
Nothing wrong with bottle feeding momma you're not any less of a mother giving your baby formula! Breast feeding is hard, any mom who breast feeds/fed will tell you that. Keep trying! But remember you're doing the best you can and your baby is doing just fine!
@mdomke22, I'm going to keep trying...I'll just have to supplement until then just praying it doesn't screw everything up.
don't give up I just had my baby girl in an emergency c section something I never imagined but it saved her and her breastfeeding was good but her sugar was a little low so I have to supplement a little ...I have her latched for an hour even more at time just drink water lots of it and keep latching him tell them if u could latch him and if after you still see baby is still hungry then supplement alittle...but don't give up milk usually takes upto 4 days to come in ...good luck and congratulations on ur new bundle of joy..
oh I see just recently.... but don't give up momma! your milk can still come... my milk didn't come in till day 3 after she was born. so you could so some formula but Def keep trying!
It will I felt awful because he even lost weight but I thought to myself if formula will keep him full I got to do it but I still kept trying and pumping and out of no where it just all came in now he refuses breast milk. lol you can do it! @queenmother
