Have any of you ladies ever been induced and used Cytotec? I was induced twice before, but always just started right with pitocin. Cytotec is supposed to make the pitocin induction go smoother/quicker? All I see online are bad things 😕.

@lp1988727, Thanks for your perspective! I'm surprised doctors still use it so widely, this is the kind of info I'm seeing everywhere. Definitely going to try naturally softening, and asking to just go for the regular pitocin induction without the extra night beforehand. @kmally Thanks to you too!

I was admitted to labor and delivery for my induction and they inserted 3 doses, 6 hours apart. After the third dose I went into active labor which only lasted 5 hours. It was the first step of my induction. They were planning on using pitocin after but luckily I didn't need it.

@kmally, How long did it take? Would I have to ask for it days in advance or could I ask for it as an alternative the night before being induced?

I was induced using cervidil. I didn't need pitocin and went on my own once the cervical ripeners worked.

@lp1988727, I haven't been using it, they want to insert it up there night before induction. Wondering if it's no biggie that late and used that way, not orally. I think I might refuse it and just come in for the regular pitocin induction.

@lp1988727, That's the stuff I keep reading... That it's not technically approved to ripen the cervix, but that that's a common use for it.
