yes!!!! definitely eat in the way there you will need it

Not gonna lie when my water broke I ate on the way to the hospital. You never know how long you're gonna labor for and they don't let you eat. If you do eat they will ask when the last time you ate was.. Just tell them like the night before or something. From what my mom said they are just worried about getting puked on that's why they don't want you to eat before hand. Sometimes anesthesia makes people sick

@tae23, I agree. You're gonna need the energy to push. My water broke at 1030 am I got admitted to hospital at 12pm and my son was born at 1127pm. I only pushed for 40 minutes but by the end of it I had NO energy!

I had a huge smoothie cause I was so sick I couldn't eat food without feeling like I was going to puke and get horrible reflux. D: @gabrielsmommy2015.

@tae23, @gabrielsmommy2015 thank you! My friend was stuck in the hospital for six days and half the time she couldn't eat. I figured your body will tell you when labor is coming so I thought a smoothie might be good because those seem to fill me up for awhile lol

in pre labor I was able to eat, but once it was time to go to the hospital I stopped at jamba lol. just snack throughout pre labor before you go in too and you'll be golden

Yeah once I got to the hospital and was admitted they wouldn't let me eat anything except what was on their liquid diet menu.. Which was basically juice and jello. So I definitely recommend eating beforehand!! I tell you what though.. I had my son at 1127pm and at 1145 I was chowing down on a whopper 😂 I was starving after giving birth lol

They don't want you to eat or drink in case you were to need an emergency c-section. With my first, I was only allowed ice chips and I was miserable because I was so freaking thirsty. I didn't care about food. But I know now that they didn't want me eating or drinking because I had gestational hypertension and that may have lead to a c-section. However, I just asked my new midwife about their stance on food and liquids and they said they will let me have liquids and light snacks. So, I guess it depends on your doc and the details of your pregnancy. If there is any doubt or risk along the way, they will likely not let you eat or drink. The common misconception is that they don't want you to eat or drink in case you puke- they don't want you to puke WHILE you're in an emergency c-section and choke on it. Anyways, eat what you can when you can, don't stress on it now. I will not be eating anytime during labor for the fact that I do NOT want to poop when I give birth, lol.

I didn't poop my first time because I got it all out as soon as I started having serious contractions... and then I didn't eat at all. So. That's my go-to formula this time lol.

I was induced && had my bestie get me jack in the box at like 2am or something. Lol. I was hungry and I wasn't about to let someone tell me I couldn't eat. I didn't end up giving birth until almost 4pm so I was happy I ate something. Didn't come close to throwing up or anything. But in general they won't want you to eat if you're at the hospital.

My instructor at birthing class at the hospital said eat when in early labor cause they won't let you eat at the hospital and you need energy. So eat up!!

@gabrielsmommy2015, it's not about them getting puked on, it's about anesthesia if you need a c section.
