can someone explain to me what happens with preclamsia or how ever you spell it....?

My cousin had pre-e and ended up being induced super early (I believe around 30 weeks) her son was a micro preemie and spent his first 10 months in the NICU he's now over 1 and still has machines to help with his breathing and can't crawl yet

I'm not really sure of all the details because she lives in a different state than me but I know high blood pressure and severe swelling are the main signs of it
