Bandana or surgical type mask, the fumes shouldn't hurt you if it's just the smell of the litter box unless it's soooo overwhelming with ammonia you're coughing. But mixing it up tossing it in the air particles is dangerous to breathe in so cover up and ventilate the room. Wear gloves just in case, but wash your hands really good up to the elbow afterward :) it will be fine. A lot of people have to do it themselves.

Ik about toxoplasmosis, but I didn't know about the fumes. Wouldn't the fumes still hurt me though, if it's not cleaned? The smell in the bathroom is overpowering. @reaganmommy2015

Actually your not supposed to clean the litter box the cat poop has some dangerous fumes that might hurt you and the baby so I would as your SO to do it
