so my legs have started to swell, i remember when my aunt had this pitted edema! is it cause im pregnant and retaining water, should i drink more water, or can it be i cleaned this morning and i was on my feet longer than usual?? please weigh in and give me some insight mammas!! ;)

drink more water. one reason you hold water is from dehydration

this is normally a sign of pre-eclampsia (high blood pressure) call your doctor or at least mention this to your doctor next visit

@babysampayo, this is called pitting edema if it's accompanied by headaches, and blurry vision seek your dr attention. It usually happens in the last trimester. Seeing that you are only 16 weeks pregnant it's cause for concern. In the meantime elevate both your lower extremities for at least 20 mins, it might sound weird but still drink water to keep yourself hydrated although you are definitely retaining water. Is your face swollen? But I would go to your MD as soon as possible to rule out any underlying issues. Cause it can be serious! Keeping fingers crossed it's not. Do you eat foods with a lot of salt?

@babysampayo, I would not recommend compression stockings right now because you don't know exactly whatS causing the swelling.

@chocohunnybees, @livd15 @ce5ce @nurseriri thank you ladies, now i do have high blood pressure but its been normal since ive been seeing my dr. and i have a dr apoointment on thursday. should i call monday or wait till thursday, i will admit i hardly drank water all last week and i had a headache yesterday but i will drink more water definitly starting now.

@babysampayo, and when she calls tell her that you have +3 (plus 3) pitting edema. And tell her you've had headaches and you have a history of high blood pressure and also you haven't really drank much water either.

If she asks how you know you have +3 let her know when you press your fingers into your legs it leaves an indentation that stays there for few seconds. @babysampayo
