Had the privilege to see baby Jacob again before he comes into the world, but under some concerning circumstances. I wouldn't have been scheduled for another ultrasound after my 20 week ultrasound if the doctors weren't afraid that something could be wrong. I've been measuring almost an entire month off of where I'm supposed to be, and so the doctors wanted to see why - if it was that he is laying funny, low amniotic fluid, developmental issues... Unfortunately, he was weighing only 4 pounds 4 ounces when he needed to be weighing in the 5 1/2 pound window in just a few days. These ultrasound photos were taken on Thursday, so I was 34w5d, and his head was measuring correctly. However, his arms and legs were measuring 32 weeks and his stomach was measuring 31 weeks. So he's super tiny and underweight for this stage of pregnancy. There could be a factor of things that could have caused this - my size (I'm 5'1"), my work (I'm an overnight stocker and though I never lifted anything too heavy, the constant physical activity was often strenuous on my body anyway), my increased depression and anxiety (creating additional stress on the poor baby), and even a poor diet (my weight gain has not been all that much, especially since I began working as an overnight stocker, when my weight flat lined and then began dropping.) On the bright side, Jacob is upside down and though he isn't set in the birth canal just yet, he's getting ready for his big day. We have another ultrasound scheduled for September 9, to make sure he's making progress in growth. Other than that, I'm gonna be doing a lot of resting and eating in my remaining 5 weeks in an effort to fatten him up!
