Question.... I have heard a lot of people who say that pacifiers shouldn't be used bc the baby can get so used to using one that as they get older they just cry so they can get it and use it till there like 5 or older. My boyfriend/baby's daddy does not want our daughter to use a pacifier. What do people think?? I also heard that it causes sores on the roof of the baby's mouth. Is that true?

I'm a ftm, but choosing no paci simply because I don't want to have to wean him off of it. Save myself the hassle 😊

Right I know sucking on the thumb or other fingers can cause the thumb or finger to get sores and shape weird. I heard with pacifiers that when you take it away baby's can go into stress and die? Idk I am a first time mom and 23 years old and I am 38 weeks pregnant so I am rly not sure. I rly don't want to use a pacifier but I guess if I have to then idk.. I rather get her something she can use to suck on that's maybe a healthy choice.

When babies come out , they have a natural need to suck . If you decide to just exclusively breastfeed , that sucking need is satisfied & baby most likely will not take a paci . Pacifiers do not cause sores either . But bottle fed babies may or may not take a paci .

I think it depends on the child. If they don't want it or reject it in the beginning I wouldn't push it.

Only one of my children used a pacifier when she was a year old we took them all away. We had a rough few nights at first but that's it. The longer u let then keep it the harder it will be to take it away from them. But that's just my opinion. To me its better than getting in the habit of sucking their thumb which is what my younger daughter does now. Its a hard habit to break bcuz its connected to her body lol
