I'm a FTM and I'm thinking about only having my husband in the room with me when I deliver.. anyone else only have their SO in the room?
What is labor/delivery like?
Was it hard with just one person in the room?
I'm kind of afraid with this being our first that he won't be able to handle it very well but me and my mom aren't that close.. With my sister in law my mom tried to control everything and she even held the baby first! I don't want that and mom don't listen to what I want with my baby! When I lived with her I begged and pleaded for her to smoke outside and she never did! She told me when I first got pregnant back in January that when it warmed up she would start going outside but it warmed up and she didn't.. she then said "when he's here I'll go outside" (we found a place and moved out thankfully).. but why would I trust her word now? Why would I believe that she would listen to me in the delivery room??
Any opinions, thoughts, or advice from anyone that's maybe experienced something similar? Or if you just want to comment.. I don't know what to do?

For both of my kids I had only my husband in the delivery room but this time around I might be only me cause he will need to take care of my two older kids. As far as labor with my first I was induced and it was 9 years ago lol

With my first daughter I had her dad, my mom, and my sister in the room. It was quite crowded and everyone wanted to throw in their two cents and it became irritating. With my second, it was just her dad. It was nice for it to be just us, and once our daughter was born it was special for us to just have time to revel at our daughter without having to share her with others right away too.

I only had my bf. during labor it was rough he had to leave 3 times all for good reasons and I had a 32 hour labor, I wish during my emergency c section I would have had someone else with me because he went with baby because of complications and I was left alone which usually would have been fine but not knowing stuff about baby and being all dopey from the drugs and in pain made it hard

В ожидании первенца
I'm having my hubby and mom in the room with me. I have had tons of complications though and have the very big possibility of having a c-section and my mom having had 4 knows a lot so I want her there.

And to answer your question about what labor and delivery is like...well...its indescribable. The contractions progressively get stronger to dilate you, then you push. Pushing can last anywhere from a couple minutes to a few hours depending on how much or how little you have been medicated. You push as though you're trying to poop. And some people do poop during child birth. You'll feel embarrassed if you do but I think the statistics are something like over half of women poop during birth. These docs have seen it all. And then your baby will be in your arms, and that experience, I have no words for. It's so wonderful and magical, there are literally no words that exist to describe the moment you see your child for the first time. But this I can promise you: as soon as that baby is in your arms, all of your pain will be gone. It's quite miraculous.

If I had your mom, I wouldn't want her in the room and I wouldn't feel bad about it. If your husband is the supportive type then that's all you'll really need.

It's better for only the necessary people you feel need to be there. Remember your gonna be in a lot of pain and stuff so it might be easier for it to be just be you and your man. The less people the better. My cousin had her man, both parents, all 4 of her siblings, and a friend in the room and she regrets it so much

i had only hubby. i have great parents but the nurse was a big b and didnt let them in. so maybe write what and who u want there prior.my sister who is supportive but could be drama was denied access but with my second baby nobody was there until right after i delivered. i trully dont care now if nobody is there. im fufilled with knowing imma be there. but its good to have people looking out for u. against super bs that may be working there that day. labor pains are like stabing rings of pain. even with the epi if u are induced ull feel pain. after u deliver pain stops but they gotta sometimes press hard on belly and they can either press too little and cause u pain later and inflammation or press hard and ruthlessly and cause u a lot of pain. i only had one person do it just right...and water kept soaking out.
