Ok, so I'm working on my birth plan and have to ask; opinions on episiotomies?
I'm prettyyyy sure I'm gonna be tearing no matter what, I just didn't know what was best...the natural tearing or the episiotomy...

@cassie2136, that's interesting I'm def gonna look into that! Do they dissolve?

@mommy122015, it helps to just soften and lubricate everything. I used jell capsules 2 every night before bed and just inserted them vaginally. It's a little messy in the morning but it's safe and was recommended by my ob

Just remember it sucks but its worth it and it only hurts for about 2weeks they should give you a squirt bottle to rinse down there with warm water i wouldn't leave my house without it while i was healing hint though always fill it before you pee so you get the right temp and its ready for immediate rinse and know most of us moms have gone threw the pain

Google perineal massage as well, it can help you stretch the area to possibly prevent tearing!

@cassie2136, how do you use primrose oil and what is the purpose? I've heard a lot about it!

Thank you ladies! @sheneque1990 @mommyofmisters @kimberlyyyy @bryawna13 @adrienneerinne27 @arabellas.mommy @lucky20074 @mlmckeeth @cassie2136 I was thinking I would tell my ob that I don't want one unless absolutely necessary, but I'm glad to hear you all agree that natural tearing is better. I had someone tell me that since I'm a ftm and very small that I would tear in all kinds of ways and an ep would be better...but I've always felt that a natural tear would be better anyway!

Prime rose oil helps a lot I used it for a week and I didn't tear at all and he came out fast. I went all natural and Yea it hurt but it was fast

I've personally never heard a positive story about an episiotomy. Natural tearing just seems to heal better. If you're worried about the pain of tearing versus getting cut, I would say that thinking about the aftermath would be more important than the temporary pain you'll be feeling in the moment! I've talked to three different women who have HORROR stories about episiotomies - my photographer (and friend) had her daughter FIVE YEARS AGO, and it still hurts her to have sex. Your body will know what's best for you sweetheart!!

Alot of hospitals wont cut anymore unless need be all i can say is warm water and witch hazel pads will be your best friend and my nurse in the hospital told me to put ice in gloves tie them off and put it down there oh and a hint to all moms buy some depends put a pad in them so you wont have to worry about leaking off of just the pad it was a life saver!

they didn't have time to do the cut for me. but I did tear a little. not enough for stitches and it healed in a week. I'm happy they didn't cut me cause it would've taken a lot longer to heal

Let your body naturally tear. If you choose to have a episiotomy you can still treat more and it be a deeper tear. You won't even feel the tear. I was told it should only be done if medically necessary.

I would say natural because your body knows naturally where to tear and when they cut sometimes it causes nerve damage 😣

All I can say is tearing SUCKS. They didn't even offer to do the slit for me.

It's easier to repair a tear than a cut ! I would go the natural tearing !

I had the natural tearing and had nine stitches with my last son
⚠ opinions⚠ So I've asked this before but I'm asking again for more opinions. Episiotomy vs. natural tearing? My doctor was trying to talk me into an episiotomy and he almost had me sold...but I still feel like natural tearing would heal better. I need opinions/preferably personal experience!
Is it better to tear naturally or get an episiotomy?
‼ ‼ natural tear VS episiotomy‼ ‼ Looking for some experiences on natural tearing VS an episiotomy. How big was baby. Did you do one but wish you had went with the other. Healing time. # of stitches. Ect!
Did anyone tear during birth? If so what was your go to options to heal yourself? As in what did you use for pain an to take care of the tear. An how long did it take for you to get healed? Any information is helpful.
