funny story I was told the same thing as everyone above BUT my son's umbilical cord fell of too soon so it started bleeding causing me to freak out I thought it was infected well it wasn't but see I have 2 other boys & with them I used a qtip & alcohol to clean theirs everytime I changed a diaper I never had any problems long story short & 2 er trips later I used alcohol & it dried up in 2 days so my suggestion is use alcohol & qtips. of course consult your pediatrician first. but went on my mommy instinct 😊

I never touched my daughters cord. Didn't use anything on it and it fell off with no problem. I was never told to use anything on it.

I never had to clean my sons. It fell off in 2 weeks and never had issues with it. I just wiped around it with a damp cloth

We were told we didn't need to clean it at all. Just what everyone else above mentioned :)
