And if they do need the father's name all you have to do is get them to court order a DNA test. If there is no way around it then there is no way around it

you can, and if your state has a social service building or place. but I don't think you can lose your insurance or it should be any problem at all when your ar the hospital.

If the father pays child support, then he has the right to see his son. You can go to court to fight visitation but chances are they will only do supervised visitation, fathers have rights to their babies just as much as mommy's do if they want them.

If you know who the father is then you put his name, no one can take your son from you unless you are considered an unfit mother and daddy doesnt get visitation unless he is paying child support or is head of household.

If you don't know they will not make you put a random name down in the hospital and will not cut off your insurance during the process of figuring it out. As long as you cooperate with hold support and work to figure it out they will not cut your insurance off. Good luck! :)

Well you can't put a name if you don't know for sure. So I'd contact the friend of the court (they deal with the child support stuff) or contact dogs and they will give you the child support number for your state and you can list names and then go to the court house and do one Dna test after another. I just had a friend go through it. She finally figured out the dad and then they changed the birth certificate

I know like 4 family members and a few friends in the situation in in or worse and they have lost there medical coverage due to not telling the hospital or having it on paper who the dad is... @no3lastone4me @momof1and1ontheway

You do not have to tell the hospital who the father is, all you have to tell them is you don't know! The hospital is not who files for child support for you, you have to do that on your own!!! Who ever told you you have to tell them the father for medical coverage is wrong, not at the hospital! If you are on Obama care, or welfare, you do all that on your own, no one does it for you!!

If there is no signature of the Father then you are correct, no child support can be filed. You should still be able to get medical coverage though since you have a child. They will not take the baby away especially if nobody signs. If the father of the child is in another state, then they probably would have you make arrangements for that person but before any of that, there needs to be a paternity test done to see who the father is... then they will go from there.. but talk with your case worker if you haven't already. I know for sure though, if no father signs, no child support, but medical coverage shouldn't be affected.

I dunno what to tell you. seems like they shouldn't be allowed to do it. I guess just do what they want you to do. give the names let them attempt to deal with it.

I don't have to put the fathers name on the birth certificate but they tell me I have to tell them who the father is that way they can get his money or whatever. you can just say I'm not sure who the father is. if either want things to change they can take you to court. which they probably won't anyway.

My son will have my last name, but if I don't tell them who the father is, then I will loose it cause the government wants to know so they can make him pay child support or just get there money. @jomommaclark

idon't think it's possible for you to lose insurance bc you don't have a name for your child's father. just give the baby your last name.
