1% milk (which I think is nasty) only certain flavored and brands of cereals and juice a bunch of stuff but there are so many rules it's not like you can go shopping and get whatever you want. But they give you a book of the things you are allowed to buy if you are able to get it
It helps with basics, I think each state is slightly different but I get milk, eggs, cheese, cereal, bread, fruits and veggies, beans, peanut butter n more but I just had mine changed cuz apparently I was supposed to be getting much more cuz I'm having twins. But it definitely helps
You don't have to get on it its just something to help out but if you need the help then you should but if you think you can handle things on your own with your baby then you should be fine without it
@joivanovich, it's only a $10 voucher for it but you can still get quite a bit, we kept running back to get more fruit cuz if you don't use all $10 you lose it. But if you go over you just pay the difference. My house has tons of bananas, blueberries, strawberries, pears, peaches, plums, carrots, peppers n onions! almost all of it was covered by that 1 voucher! So it's a pain to deal with the wic office but it is definitely worth it. and ya the milk is 1% while your pregnant but I think it changes after the baby is a certain age. I don't drink milk so I measure it out and freeze it, I use it for baking and during the holidays I bake up a storm!
@joivanovich, no problem just remember frozen milk doesn't taste good at all if u defrost it and use if for cereal. But as long as your cooking or baking with it, there is no difference

Before pregnancy, it helps you with food. After, some supply you a breast pump, food for baby and formula

After baby is born they'll provide you with different foods and help you with formula if you formula feed your baby.
