I unfortunately cannot afford to bank my son's cord blood privately, but I had no idea you could donate it to a public blood cord bank. Important points:
1. Donating the cord is free to a public bank.
2. Your donation could help a cancer patients and those who need stem cell transplants.
3. The names of mother's and babies are kept confidential.
4. Cord blood from diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds are especially needed so patients who need a transplant match from someone in their own race or ethnic group.
5. The cord blood becomes available to any potential patient or research. There is no way to guarantee retrieval at a later date. But, if you ever need cord blood and it is still available, the unit will show up as a perfect match if the donor is now a patient.
To each their own... just wanted to share these points , and hope I myself can make up my mind on whether or not to donate. Feel free to discuss and if I missed something please feel free to comment.... as I still am on the fence about it.

@septson, I'll definitely be looking into this tomorrow- thanks for posting the website!
@mommyof2angelboys, go to BeTheMatch.org and click on Donate Cord Blood. you have to research donating in your own state as it varies. @levleah thanks I never knew this either! and so I found it necessary to share and consider.
check with your birthing center first if they do this. my hospital doesn't do or allow cord banking private or donation
this is great! I never knew this...I did look into private banking, but it is also too expensive for me to do. I love that this is an option, and one I might not have thought about. Thanks for posting!
how do you go about donating it?
I always donate because I can't afford to keep mine either but I feel like why throw this away when I could give it to someone who might need it one day 😊

My husband and I aren’t exactly strangers when it comes to relationship challenges 💞. We have been together for 14 years and married for eight, so we’ve definitely gone through some growing pains as we navigated a long-distance relationship in college and our first year living together as a married 👫 couple.
But nothing has challenged our relationship quite like our first year as 👪 parents .
Before you have your first child, you have these grand ideas of what it will be like. There’s more slee...

3RD UPDATE: What would you do?
Ok, so we have these new neighbors they have been there renting the house 2 doors down for about 3 months or so. They have a 2 year old boy, he just turned two. They have asked me to babysit him on multiple occasions, just so happens I've been busy each time. In my mind, they don't know me or anything about me. Barely know my name and they want me to watch their kid because they see I have kids and stay home. Apparently they haven't had any luck with the babysitt...
Hi Moms and Moms-to-be,
@Simpsonv54 's son is 3-months old and is in the hospital for the fourth time. Her family is currently at the Children's Hospital of Atlanta and has an urgent request for help and advice. These are her words:
- Ok mommies, I need advice from anyone who may have had a similar situation as ours. Both us and my son's Dr's here at children's are at a loss as to what could be going on with him. Here is our story! At nine weeks old, on September 17th my son started running...
Who else has financial issues within their relationship?? Or am I just lucky 🙄🙄
Not sure if I'm being just mean or what. But my SO used $160 from me this morning. I gave him my bank card because he needed $60 to get material for work. His boss was going to give it back to him at the end of the day. So instead of $60 he took out $160. Which I was a little pissed. (One of the reasons I just can't let him use my card. I have to go get the money from the atm myself if I'm giving it to him) then, to...
