I was just notified that I have gestational diabetes. Anyone else get that news at 32 weeks and what do you have to do…

basically they are about to put you on a diet and have you check your sugar after every meal( breakfast, lunch and dinner) you will also check it before breakfast( well that's what I do)

I had it. you wait till you go to your high risk Dr and they'll tell you everything. I had to check my sugar a hour after I ate. But it all depends on how bad yours is

@ashleycoronel it could but it's all about you making sure you eat right...as of right now it haven't affected my son at all...his weight is good and he's growing on target. I'm only having him early bc I have placenta previa

I just got done with my 1 hr test but I haven't gotten my results back yet. I'm almost 28 weeks and I keep thinking- what if you develop it AFTER they test for it? (Testing is typically between 24-28 weeks.) So, I'm wondering, how did they diagnose you at 32 weeks?

@mamalamadingdong, from what my doctor said, is you typically develop it between 24-28 weeks. It's very common to fail your 1 hour and then pass the 3 hour. So if you pass the 1 hour, I wouldn't be nervous about developing it later on.

Not yet I'm hoping my doctor calls me back today to tell me but it's already 5:30 here so don't know if that will happen

From what I have heard we will be put in a diet to control your levels and if it doesn't work they try pills and if that doesn't work you go to insulin shots

Ohhhh ok. I know there aren't typically symptoms, but was there anything in hindsight that made sense after you were diagnosed?

(I don't know why, but I just have a feeling I have it since I've been going crazy with sugar!)

@mamalamadingdong The only thing I can really think of is I would get very very dizzy and have passed out a few times. I went crazy with sugar too. I think that may have played a part in it
