Just curious... Can you explain the whole lip/tongue tied issue?

@kibella22, she wasn't able to stick her tongue out far enough and her top lip couldn't latch around the areola properly nc she had some extra skin that needed clipped and once they corrected it she was too used to the bottle and didn't wanna try any longer

Is this condition common?

Is there a name for it? I've never heard of it before and didn't think something like that could be an issue @paisleysmama0216

@kibella22, i had never heard of it until I had my daughter it's just called a tongue tie or a lip tie some babies have both like my daughter does...it's actually more common than you'd think and early correction is very necessary in my opinion... @blessedmommy did your lo have a tie as well ?

@paisleysmama0216, how can you tell when the baby is born? Or later on?

@kibella22, a lactation consultant or pediatrician should be able to tell...her drs didn't check for it until she was 4 days old then took almost 2 weeks till her appt to fix it

@kibella22, I ended up having to exclusively pump bc she refuses to even try to latch since she was introduced to a bottle so early she will kick scream cry and stop breathing when I try to put her on the breast we've seen 5 different lactation consultants (multiple times each) and basically all of them said my best option was to pump and feed her

@paisleysmama0216, I would be so sad and mad. I understand ur frustration deff negligence for whoever was responsible to check her right after delivery. Smh. I wish u all the best of luck. At least ur still able to give her breast milk.
