Screening programmes. Which tests did you have? The booklet the midwife gave me is actually pretty daunting, nothing positive in it at all. Confused :(

i had the downs syndrome screening bloods done at 12 weeks, thankfully bubbas at low risk. but if itd come back different, i wouldve decided then if further tests would help. as zeld said, it does depend on ur views and circumstances.. each person is very different, even with things such as vaccines.. im going to have whooping cough injection, my pregnant friend is refusing. talk to ur gp/midwife, they can give u lots of info ☺ x

I think it's downs and Edwards test that is worrying me the most. I don't mind all the blood tests but CVS and Amniocentesis seems so invasive with needles into abdomen etc x

Hey, I just had my screening done today :):) They took some blood to check the hormones then in the scan they check everything over. I also consented for a pre-clamp study :) I was low risk! The woman doing the scan said that everything looked good and she was happy with my baby! She had no concerns :):):) I will get a letter telling me the risk of downs in a few weeks.

I had the nuchal scan and accompanying blood test for the combined downs.... all the necessary blood tests for communicative diseases etc.... fortunately my risk was low enough I didn't have to consider cvs or amnio. I figure you have to consider what you'd do with the results. if they wouldn't change your mind and youd continue a pregnancy no matter what then is it worth the stress?? if you are not sure or like me you have other children to consider if you were told you were going to have an unwell/disabled child... it might be more important to you. if you're really not sure what to do, discuss it with your health care professionals... it's what they are there for... they can give you an informed unbiased opinion and help you decide what's best for you.
