How many moms or moms to be on here are stay at home moms for the first time or were for the first time when you got pregnant or had a baby?? I've always worked and when him and I got out of the navy and moved back to Florida from Washington - I planned to work part time and go to school full time . And then I found out I'm pregnant and was on bed rest due to being high risk . My question for you SAHMs is what do you do to make the dollar stretch? My husband works at a state prison so the money isn't terrible but it isn't the greatest either .

Almost the same situation as you, got out of the army in February. This is the first baby I will be home with but I will be going to school full time. Taking 4 classes although 3 will be online, you only need to take one in person for the full amount

I'm a sahm and money is always tight but we manage. I do a lot of couponing, meal planning helps and we cut unnecessary things like cable.

@boymama, really?! I'm so glad you said that I've been trying to find a way around that .. Because I want to take online classes mostly but that cuts BAH down in my area to less than half the full amount !

As long as you take one class in person for the full semester you will get full BAH. I did the same thing the last two semesters. I'm taking a night speech class for 1 hour on Monday and Wednesday so my husband can watch the baby and i won't be gone long. Talk to the va rep at the school about what you can do, I think teachers would work with you being on bed rest also.

I keep lights off unless needed, unplug things when not in use, pack lunches for him, we don't have cable or internet just unlimited internet on our phones, buy things while on sale

Thank you for that info because that helps a lot I'm sure . @caracross1 ; yeah I was already thinking about the cable thing , currently we stay with his parents since we just got out a few months ago and were trying to get bills right but he usually watches Netflix anyways when he's home and once the baby comes I doubt I'll be watching much television .

Yeah we kept Internet, but we never watch TV anyway. Can't live without my Internet though. Lol

That's how I am . My husband jokes all the time that all my friends live in my phone and he's right lol he dragged me across the country and I don't know anyone here ... And it's blistering hot down here in Florida so I'm not gonna go out and meet anyone haha you moms on here are more than enough
