so today after my resiliency training for in processing (one of the many mandatory army trainings we have) a young female soldier caught up with me in the parking lot and asked what happens to single pregnant soldiers and if we get forced out of the army or what. I told her the stuff my nco had told me and what was on my counseling from my last chain of command (pretty much when a female gets pregnant, regardless of marital status, they can either stay in or take a chapter 8 discharge). she's an E1 so obviously brand new to the army and she's in an airborne unit here, which usually means minimal female leadership and mentors. as much as I hate my job sometimes, I love mentoring and helping out young soldiers with their problems. that is the biggest reason why I want to get promoted and stay in the military.

it's kinda complicated to get housing as a single pregnant soldier too. there's a memo and like 2 other forms that have to be done. plus things are even more difficult because we're in Germany. but yeah a solid family care plan as a single parent is extremely important @boymama

I have been stationed in Wiesbaden and Baumholder, not very difficult to do housing but they make you wait until you are further along. I just got out of the army in February

they're making me do all sorts of craziness here on Graf @boymama I showed up with the exception to policy memo (I pcsd here from Korea at 5 months) and when I went to housing they said I had to wait until I was at least 6 months to even be put on the waiting list. and then told me I had to have a 4187 for conditional command sponsorship, even though my tour here is 3 years since I'm on my second contract.

but then another lady told me she couldn't process my housing application until I was on the waiting list. it's one of the usual army fuck fuck games the civilian offices like to throw us through @boymama lol

Well you sure as hell cant have a baby in the barracks, bring an NCO with you to housing with a 4187 and a copy of your orders. I've known a female friend of mine to get into housing every by bring out our platoon sergeant at the time... If you have a good squad leader I would bring them. Also ew Graf haha

yeah I know. if I had known about the 4187 earlier I would have come here with it completed by my last unit, like I did with the exception to policy memo. but I've got it in to my chain of command right now so hopefully I'll be out of the barracks by mid august at the latest @boymama
