Sooooo what are the cons to getting induced? I was induced my last pregnancy but basically did everything on my own meaning I didn't get pitocin or any meds to help start labour they literally just broke my water and that was it. My body started working on its own. But now I'm hearing how bad it is to be induced and it's bad to kick a baby out when it's not ready...etc. should I be induced? Should I wait? My fear is a big baby and having to end up getting a c section which I DONT want!!

I think it's a personal decision...I'm getting induced 3 days after my due date if it doesn't happen naturally because there are risks associated with going over 40 weeks as well, and most people just decide not to mention those because they're so against getting induced. you can at 39 weeks but their lungs may still be finishing up developing

I ended up having an emergency c section because I was induced at 41+3- the nurse kept upping my pitocin before my body had any time to dilate so I was having contractions less than a minute apart and they were off the screen high I couldn't catchy breath between them, my daughters heart rate was dropping and putting me on oxygen didn't help so I was rushed into surgery 😔 though my sister was induced at 39 weeks with 2/3 of her girls and had no complications

I don't really have any cons. But from personal experience I was induced at 38 weeks because of hypertension. Doctors can and most will do a test to make sure your baby lungs are ready. They normally give you a shot that helps the lungs develop faster so by the time you'll be induced your baby will be ready. I didn't have any of that because mine was an emergency induction. Where I'm from you can only get induced if there's a medical issue or your past your due date. My labor only took 7 hours and 9 minutes. It took me 10 minutes to push.

@jnlazarus, See that's sounds like me I was induced right at 40 weeks and had no issues and my labour was 7 hours also and it took me like 5-10 mins to push!

I got induced with my second baby at 41 weeks its was easy I got pitocen and contractions started I was in labor 5pm to 5:55am and it only took me 6 mins to push
