don't limit yourself too much pregnancy is not a time to change everything you do.. now health wise yes limit caffeine and smoking but your body will protected your baby don't go over board especially if this is your first with your S/O make it fun not a chore

@aphrodite2014, do you mean if she's smoking something other than a cigarette? Because, babies are affected all the time by moms who smoke while pregnant. If you do and it doesn't harm the baby, you're fortunate. But personally, I wouldn't risk it.

@cookiemonster1216, I meant it in the fact of people around her limiting smoking. and mom's who have a strong smoking addiction who don't quit before pregnancy shouldn't go cold turnkey because of withdraws affecting the baby so..

@aphrodite2014, ok just checking. You obviously know a lot about smoking and pregnancy. I've only seen effects of both. My husbands cousin quit cold turkey with both her kids, and they're ok. But as someone who's seen babies with problems because of smoking, I cringe when I see an obviously pregnant woman smoking. But yes, trying to avoid second hand smoke is also important. It's actually been proven that people exposed to second hand smoke actually are more likely to have negative effects (cancer, lung disease, etc) than the smoker themselves.

@cookiemonster1216, yup your exactly right on all of them. I work in a NICU and a pediatric intensive care units I see alot of different things... like being a diabetic mother can almost guarantee your baby will be seen my a NICU nurse at some point. but second hand smoke and smoking all together can be harmful. and the whole cold turkey think depends upon what provider you talk to I've seen alot say to start limiting immediately and try to stop as soon as you can but not to the point where your stressed because of quitting because it can also stress our the baby this is typically for people who have most then a 1/2 pack a day addiction.

That's already on the top of my list lol my boyfriend and my mom smoke so I put it in all capital letters lol

@hayleybug, good for you! and it will be hard for them because I know with smokers everything smells like smoke! I suggest getting this stuff called odor ban.. I get it at Sams club but just 1/4 of a cup in the wash every time and you shouldn't have the smoke smell anymore and it comes with a spray too I love that stuff!!
