Any law enforcement wives?? My husband works in that field and has been having some of the worst nightmares. He is punching the air and mumbling in his sleep .

Not law enforcement but Marine wife... my husband used to do that a lot. He'd talk in his sleep saying someone was in the room or random scary things. He would actually hold a conversation with me in his sleep about creepy stuff! Other times he'd have bad nightmares and kick and yell or wake up punching. It's calmed down a lot but every now and then if he's really stressed he gets like that. It's tough.

Yeah while we were in the Navy he did it every now and then but nothing as bad as this ! @emc229 ; I wanna help him but i feel like there is nothing I can really do except let him dream through it.

I tried to help my husband once and it was a reallllllly bad idea! Never waking him up when having dreams like that again. It's hard, but most of the time he doesn't remember he even had those dreams unless I tell him. I'll usually rub his head and he relaxes. I've asked him if he wants to talk about it, whatever it is, but he limits what he tells me and I don't keep pushing.

He could possibly have a moderate case of PTSD . Can also be caused by the fear of something happening. I'm in law enforcement.

@doodiemo, oh really?! Not to get too personal and you can completely just pass on the answer if you want but have you ever dealt with things like this with yourself?? If so how did you fix it ? Talking to someone?? Or what?

I've had it. Not the PTSD , cause I've seen 10x worse before I even started, but I had night terrors and I'd wake up swinging at people or I've even woken up with my gun in my hands so be very very verrryyyy careful if he doesn't lock up his weapons! And how I got rid of it, luckily for me it slowly went away on its own the more I become content with my line of work. It's a conscious thing. You can also get medicine or try hot tea with mint before bed.
