pregnant, about to be evicted, and can't get food stamps. and now I'm getting stress sick

Oh wow. That's terrible, there's has to be a program to assist you in your state especially being pregnant. Call around and get some info. Good luck Hun!!

@babyn2015, well since I'm also a college student, I don't qualify for anything except WIC.

I went through this a few weeks ago and had to move in with my mum and it's been awful. The state welfare program / system sucks. I'm in California and I get cash aid every month and they deducted 200$ from what I get just because I said I was pregnant and didn't feel well enough to get out of bed to do 20 hours of mandated find a job program stuff in their office. Like, I'm sorry I was resisting the urge to throw up constantly & couldn't find a babysitter. The state programs for aid are a joke. But anyway, I'm sorry you're going through that. I understand that it's hard. Maybe a local women's center could help you find temporary housing? Or a church (im not religious at all but I hear churches help people), or maybe a friend can help house you for a few days?? I hope you find something soon- stress like that is no fun to deal with, especially pregnant. Good luck hun.

@kimberlyyyy, Corpus Christi is a small town, not much here for help. but thank you. I'm sorry you had to go through it too. I'm starting to feel like the government hates pregnant people...

I can't even imagine what I'd do. No family to help? That would probably your best bet if that's the case! Or some church's that provide some kind of aid.

@babyn2015, closest family is back in Houston, and that means dropping college, which is put of the question. but hey if I drop out I get my food stamps. Ugh.

What about transferring to a school here? @sconway93 whats your major?

I thought about it but UofH doesn't offer what I need. my major is biomedical science @shortiebs

Sometimes we need to make necessary sacrifices to support ourselves. I know it's hard especially while you're pregnant. I didn't qualify for WIC or food stamps while I was pregnant and had to quit my job because they refused to give me more than 12 hours a week. I thankfully had my parents to help out but that just added financial stress on them. I had to take off a semester (now that my son is here) to get food stamps. And I just found out I get a little over $300 a month which is a blessing. I know it sucks to postpone your dreams and goals but if it benefits your wellbeing and your growing child then maybe it's necessary. 😕
