Okay, I need some input from all you Mommas out there. I'm having my first baby in January, and right now my boyfriend and I are in a 2 bedroom apartment with a lease that ends or renews 1/31-- obviously not the most convenient time to move. But here's my dilemma, we live about 100 feet from a frequently travelled train track. Our bedroom is pretty quiet because it's only got one outer wall, whereas the spare bedroom which would be the nursery has 2 long exposed walls and is closer to the train, so it's pretty loud. It also gets pretty cold in the winter because of the 2 exposed walls. My boyfriend wants to stay and either go month to month or renew for 6 months and move once we've adjusted a bit and have more money saved up, but I'm nervous that I'm going to be going nuts with a baby that's constantly getting woken up by the nonstop ruckus... Any advice?

Do you plan to keep baby in your room (in a bassinet) for a few months? That could buy some time.

Babies are great with adapting to their surrounding sounds. It's actually best to not keep it completely quiet when baby sleeps, or they will wake with every little sound they hear. I used to vacuum, play music, have all sorts of background noise around my son while sleeping & he would sleep through it. Usually if they are used to hearing the sounds they will become soothing to them & not bother them.

Your probably going to want your baby to sleep with you for the first couple of months. Newborns wake up approximately every two hours for a feeding. Your going to be very sore/trying to recover from delivery where the less you have to walk to reach your baby the better. Does the crib fit in your room? When my son was born (who's almost 3)I kept his crib on my side of the bed where I literally just had to stand up to reach him for a feeding. I kept his crib in our room for the first 6mo even though he started sleeping through the night at 2mo. So if the noise isn't bad in your room I would recommend you hang in there for a couple of months while you guys get adjusted. Hope this helps!😊

you're supposed to keep the baby in your bedroom as a newborn. They shouldn't sleep in their own room yet

I do plan on doing a bassinet in our room for the first few months so yeah that should help us for the first few months, and @luckyb33 that's what my mom says too, that makes me feel a little better.

she's not supposed to it's a choice to keep the baby in the room. but if she wants to that's in her. but my old Town was really small and the train would heard all night. my kids didn't mind.. they were heavy sleepers.. it could be loud for their ears though..

@mama2planning1, that's kind of what I was worried about. I'm glad to hear someone else's kids slept through a train, but I wasn't sure how loud is too loud. I tried to tell my boyfriend we should just switch bedrooms but he says that's too much work lol. We've got big furniture that would be a pain to move.
