I'd wait it out first time moms go longer then 38-39 weeks no need to rush baby if baby isn't ready

Honestly I would do your own research. Drs recommend a lot of things that aren't good for you. It used to be normal for a ftm to go to 42 weeks no issues no risks no problems. If you don't want to tear make it clear that you don't want to do purple pushing (being told when to push.) your body knows what to do and your contractions leave you with the urge to push. If you get an epidural you may need some guidance but some women are told when to push, push their babies out in 15-20 minutes? That's not natural! Of course you're gonna tear. You honestly should be pushing for an hour at least. But Drs are impatient and nurses are impatient. Sometimes even the moms are impatient and want baby to come out and just want to get it over with. That's how they end up tearing. Also look up perineal massage and hot oil compress on perineum. If you take your time and tel the dr and nurses what you really want and be your own advocate or even have an advocate for you (like a doula) you probably won't tear.

Imo, it's your first baby, the bigger it is the harder it will be. My first I had 3rd degree tear. It was horrible. You might still tear even if you have it now. It's just one of those things you don't know until you are there. I'd discuss all the benefits vs cons with dr

My doctor said he would induce my labor at 38 weeks, if my baby girl still had growth issues and if the percentile dropped to 10 or less. Last thursday, it was 10 percentile, and he said if she didn't come on her own by 38 weeks, he would induce labor at that time. I'm 36 weeks 1 day today, he said my cervix was super thin, and 1cm dilated. Is there a possibility this can change... that my doctor will let her just come on her own? I don't want to be induced, i would much rather her come on her own when she is ready to come ! As much as I am anxious to meet her and have her home with me, those last few weeks of brain development and lung maturation means so much more to me! I'm hoping and praying that things turn around, and I don't have to get induced. I'm surely going to talk to my doctor about it Thursday when I go back.
