@misscrystal, I'm going through almost the exact same thing! We moved back to our home time and moved in with my parents until our house is ready. His parents were upset because we didn't move in with them which would have made more sense but I refuse to be around that smoke. I've done it for 4 years even though it makes me physically ill but once I found out I was pregnant my sympathy for hurting their feelings went out the window have to think about mine and the babies health first.

@queenmother, my mil does the same thing! But she sprays fa breeze in the air and never has windows open.😡

It makes me feel awful! And I feel even worse having to discuss it with my boyfriend, I can tell it hurts his feelings. We're also living with my parents until there's a house available for us to move in, I know his mom is pretty jealous and upset that were not living with her and were having a home birth any day now and I think she feels excluded... But I'm comfortable at my parents, the house is spotless and I get help while my bf is at work. I don't want to sound like a controlling bitch and tell her to change her clothes & wash her hands and under her nails... But damn! I guess I'm gonna have to. I pre warned her I'm going to be Hitler with cleanliness and she was pretty upset. She should understand she's a mother and "used" to keep her house clean... She should do the same for her granddaughter.😔

My MIL and FIL will have to come to our apartment to see baby because they smoke in the house. They also try and pretend like they don't anymore but we will walk in the door and they are snuffing out cigs and hiding ash trays and waving frantically at the air lol.

You are so not in the wrong momma!! Some of my husbands brothers smoke and I'm really iffy on my baby being around them because they never wash their hands and they smoke so much I can smell them from across the room!! It's disgusting.

I don't blame you. If she wants to see baby she can come visit you. Also set a rule that she needs to have clean clothes that haven't had smoke around them that she can change into before she holds baby, and of course, everybody must wash their hands before touching or holding baby!!

@misscrystal, not at all... I am going to be super protective when baby is born, Germs are everywhere literally... If someone is not hygienic regardless of who they are family or not but sorry... Wash your hands and clean up otherwise it's a no go. It's our children and we are responsible for taking care of them and babies can get sick really easily. That needs to be explained to her, If she still doesn't change her ways then you have no other choice... Sad but true.

I don't think you're overreacting, I'd feel the same way lol. It's how I feel about taking my daughter to my boyfriends house cause she curses a lot and I don't want my baby around that. Plus seeing how she treats my boyfriend, I know she would be the same way with our daughter..
