for some reason when I fall asleep I keep winding up laying on my back. is that safe? aren't I not supposed to lay on my back for long periods of time?
My Doctor told me it was okay to wake up on my back or to sleep on my back, just as long as I fell asleep on my left side.
i wouldn't dwell too much on it but i sleep with a body pillow folded for my head and a regular pillow under my back\belly and it seems to be working okay, you can try that should help @natnatbabygirl
@mahaylasmomma, sometimes my pillows cover it from under me though so I don't know how to prevent that.
@natnatbabygirl, as in your organs. if you lay flat on your back you risk your insides squashing the baby and reducing their oxygen flow
@mahaylasmomma, how would you squish the baby? @meganeileen6 lol my dog cuddles into my back so I don't move anywhere when I'm propped up with blankets and pillows. he's a cuddle bug.
my doctor said if it's comfortable on your back is fine just try to elevate the top half of your body so you won't squish the baby by laying plank style
girl i fall asleep on my side..wake up on my back with my legs twisted up like a pretzel....when i fall asleep i have to fight my kitten for my prego pillow lol
@babyeitrem, exactly how I am, just never really slept on my back till lately, thought it might mean something scary.
I'm 35 weeks and still sleep on my stomach. I sleep how I'm comfy.
@meganeileen6, omagoodness I wish I had one, when I try to keep myself from winding up on my back I use like four pillows and a few blankets lol. @scarlettnikol at first I couldn't do it either but as I got farther along I'd prop my front end up with pillows, and stick my butt in the air it was so comfy, but i wake up in the a.m. splayed out on my belly.
i always wake up on my back too! freaks me out lol what good is my pregnancy pillow?!
with my forat i couldn't sleep on my stomach from the day i found out i was pregnant im just happy i can atm
like @baby_guaderrama said mamas know what they can and cannot do when they're pregnant its kind of a natural instinct if you felt like you were hurting the baby laying in that position then you'd know and you'd change it. @scarlettnikol
@natnatbabygirl, mine does too but i cant get comfortable and havent been able to but i dont care what he says he isnt the one pregnant
@scarlettnikol, my bf freaks when I lay on my stomach at how far along I am, but I know my baby's got plenty of space and he's well protected through all my layers. I feel comfortable on my stomach sometimes.
@baby_guaderrama, well right now the only thing its given me is horrible heartburn, and a case of the need to pee alots, but I definitely appreciate your advice. have you had any bad back pains my hips are always outta whack and they pop and creak alot, that's one of the reasons I think I wind up on my back or in a position where I'm laying with more of my back on the bed so I don't move my hips to much.
my ob explained to me you can sleep any way you want just make sure you are comfortable. i sleep on my stomach and i was a little scared. she just told me the reason why people dont is cause it might feel like an elephant sitting on you
@natnatbabygirl, oh yeah I totally understand. If you start to feel light headed or if you start to feel the room get darker and darker definitely get off your back. So far that happened once to me and I just switched to my right side. Sometimes they lay on a nerve or put pressure on your veins and it can happen.
@baby_guaderrama, okay I kinda figured the same thing, women are built to have babies and if my body didn't know what to do I'd be worried lol. my mom just kinda freaked me out by mentioning that I shouldn't do it and then of course my mind's gotta play the devils advocate and mess with me making my mind run wild with the worst case scenario. lol
@natnatbabygirl, I'm the same exact way I wake up on my back. If the baby was in distress or in pain your body will move automatically. Kinda like motherly instinct. I have been like that for a while and baby is healthy. I kinda just let my body do its own thing if it wasn't safe for baby your body would correct it.
for the past 2-3 weeks, I cant breathe, I literally cant sleep, I cant lay back, when I went for my sono today I could barely lay back I had to sit up after laying back for 30sec, I even started sweating and I am hot all the time..can anybody tell me if this is normal?...im 33weeks 4days
why when I lay on my back its hard to breathe 😔😔😔
Woke up this morning wet, I thought I was peeing I took a shower layed back down & I started poring out fluids my water broke!
every time I wake up in the middle of the night I'm laying on my back but when I go back to sleep I lay on my sides. I know laying on your back is bad.. so will that effect the baby or anything?
Is it good to lay on your back during pregnancy? I sleep on my side never sleep on my back. But I sometimes wants to lay on my back but some people say not too?
yeah I fell asleep on my side last night, but wound up on my back.
