⭐Car Seat Safety Repost from Last Night ⭐

Ladies please please please learn your car seat safety. There are laws in place for a reason, to keep your child safe! This is long but it's damn important!!!

Common Mistakes:

-Wrong seat for the age and/or size of child (check out the page car seats for the littles on Facebook for a certified tech to assist in picking the right type of seat for your child based on age, height and weight. Most State government pages have the laws listed as well!)

-Improper placement of chest clip (At nipple level or even with the arm pits. Its a chest clip not a belly or clavicle clip)

-Straps not in the right place. (Rear facing the straps should come from below the shoulders or right at the shoulder never above. Forward facing which should not be done before 2 years of age, straps should come from above or right at the shoulder.)

-Strap tightness (you shouldn't be able to pinch extra strap material)

-Using items not approved for the seat. (Fancy covers, head rests and straps are not allowed per your car seat manual. In most cases unless it came WITH your seat or you literally ordered it from the manufacturer directly you can't use it with the seat, it will void warranty and possibly your insurance coverage!!)

-Forward facing too soon. (They should rear face until at least two and as long as their seat allows)

Keep your manual, register your seat and follow the laws and regulations set by the seat manufacturer, your car manufacturer and keep up with the new recommendations. Your child's life can be taken or saved in an accident based solely off car seat usage. Don't be ignorant to this subject! Learn Learn Learn!!!

@firstbaby_girl, when you get it it should come with a tag from the company, fill it out and mail it to them. Then if there is a recall they can let you know and send you new parts! (:

Share pictures of you littles in their car seats for a CAR SEAT FIT CHECK 😊 I am a CPST (Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician) and would be more than happy to help you double check that your seat is fitting your little one correctly - proper strap placement, chest clip placement, strap tightness etc. plus any other questions you may have! You can also send me a private message if you prefer 🙂 Other helpful info would be if your child is rear facing or forward facing, their age/height/weight, and the name of the car seat you’re using. I’ll share first! My littlest is 18 months, 28lbs, and 30ish inches long. And she is sitting rear facing in a Diono Rainier. 😊 The straps are coming from below her shoulders, her chest clip is at nipple/arm pit level, there’s no slack in her harness, and there aren’t any aftermarket products attached to her straps or added to her car seat! ✅ 🙂 *please no bashing or mommy shaming for being “overprotective” or for any misuse you may see - it’s more common than you think 😉

Here’s a visual for you. My little girl is buckled into her car seat correctly. Her straps are over her shoulders, coming from below her shoulders, her CHEST clip is armpit level, and I can't pinch any slack above her shoulders. My little boy is buckled in incorrectly. His CHEST chip is between his belly button and chest, his straps are VERY loose. If we were to get into a car accident he would most likely be ejected from his car seat and flung forward. If you do not feel confident to flip your child upside down in a 5 point harness, THEY ARE NOT STRAPPED IN CORRECTLY. It is your obligation as a parent to make sure your tiny people are safe. It is not an opinion. It is an obligation. And it is the law in Oklahoma to rear face your BABY till 2. *** NOT MY POST**** just felt it was definitely worth sharing here🖤

son getting out of car seat

son getting out of car seat So a couple days ago my son started getting himself out of his car seat while we are on the road. He will be 2 years old May 27th. He pushes the chest clip all the way down and pulls his arms and shoulders out of the straps but is still buckled at the waist. Today he did it 4 times, we had to pull over every time. What do you guys do when they start doing this? My Britax came with these long rubber strap covers but I took them off a while ago when he was to small for them. Are they to stop him from pushing the chest clip down? I just want to know if these will help before I take it apart to put them back on.
