Hey ladies i have a question. I have a sister who is 10. I've posted about her before, she's unfortunately I'll with a terminal disorder. She is super excited about becoming an aunt to our daughter and I love talking to her about it.
Well for my baby shower next month I want to get my nails done with some pretty acrylics. She wants to come with me. I have some questions and concerns I'll list below, if you happen to know the answer to any please let me know!

So she's 10 now she will be 11 when my daughter comes. She has multiple disorders, and 2 of them are terminal because of that the doctors have a difficult time giving our family an expected life expectancy. We were told she wouldn't make it till 6 but here she is at 10 (needless to say birthdays are a a HUGE deal to my family) She starts chemotherapy at the end of this month to hopefully stop tumors they found on her lungs. But because of her disorders the doctors said that unfortunately the chemo will probably be what takes her. My parents are allowing it because if not the tumors will first. (it's a horribly difficult time for us as a family but we're trying to keep it together). Im going to talk to my mom and her doctors too. So here's my questions with that in mind
-is it OK to bring her?
💅 I really think 10 is a bit young but she wants to get her nails done so badly and I want her to experience the things she wants before her time is up.
-if I do bring her will a salon even do her nails or is she too young?
💅 She really wants acrylic nails like I'm getting but I don't think that'll happen. But can I get her a manicure? just like a pretty paint job or something?
-Also I don't know much about nail salons and the chemicals they use but are those supplies a risk for someone with a compromised immune system? Could she just wear a mask?
Like I said I'm gonna ask my mom and her doctors but I just wanted opinions.
I really have a hard time with this. I think under normal circumstances she's too young. but these are not normal circumstances. I don't want to treat her different because she's sick but I also don't want to not give her life experiences

I know most nail salons will do her nails at that age. and the chemicals are strong for acrylics so a mask would be recommended. even a manicure would be perfect if she cant get acrylics

She should be fine. My daughter is 8 and she gets her done but they only paint them.

most salons should do it. maybe not the acrylic. one of my nail ladies here had breast cancer and went through chemo and wore a mask while working. i think asking her doctor is a wonderful idea to clarify.

OK thank you ladies! As long as she's cleared by her doctors I think we will at least try for acrylic since it's what she wants but if not I bet she would be happy with just a manicure @babydavis915 @eeniemeenie5683

at my salon a dad brought his daughter and her friends for a "pedi party" they must have been 7-8 and had a blast. I would go with just paint and maybe pretty designs. acrylics can be a bit much for some people, including me and im 21 lol

I think as long as they do something for her she will be happy. I want to give her what she wants but only if it's safe :) @_akgirl

lol yeah they are for me too I just don't want to have all chipped nails after baby and this seemed most long term :P but I think she will be happy with a manicure @mommapint

If she wants acrylic u could get some from the store n u could do them for her

I had acrylics at 10 they weren't long like I do now. I had them done so I wouldn't bite my nails but they will probably allow it and definitely have her use a mask. Even for me the smells from the chemicals can be overwhelming. Maybe look into getting her gel nails, they are super similar to acrylics with WAY less the smell and chemicals. I get gels now and they look just like acrylics. Still clear it with her Drs tho whether you choose gels or acrylics
