I'm new here! Just wanted to say hi :) I'm a first time mom and do not know what I'm doing haha.
I was wondering if anyone has ever gotten a positive result on their quad screening? I tested positive for DS. My numbers are 1 in 229. I'm scheduled for a level 2 ultrasound and possible amnio (yes I know the risks). Has anyone had numbers like that and everything be fine? Super worried.
Welcome did they see any white spots calcium marks ? I was 20 weeks when they saw something on my babies heart. I was scared I met with a genetic counselor and had the materni21 test done. 2 longest weeks of my life but it came back negative
Have you do your anatomy scan yet? If there is a red flag there, then I would go from that point. Until then, don't you stress! 😊❤️
Welcome! ❤️ I didn't even end up doing the screening because of all the false positives that come up. I figured, I will love her and be her mommy no matter what, so, there is no need to worry about that now. I didn't want to stress myself out the whole pregnancy. Not that I think you shouldn't have or anything! Just what I chose to do. I DO know, however, my friend/women I used to baby sit for had a positive come back, and she was under the impression her son was definitely going to be born with DS. When he was born, he was totally healthy. No DS at all.
I did mine was 1 in 56 percent chance. I went and had a level 2 ultrasound and they found cysts on her brain which is a soft marker for ds. we didn't do the amnio because we knew the risks and would love our baby girl no matter what! with that being said I'm already high risk as I am a diabetic. so when I got to my high risk dr he suggested we do the materniT21 blood test it's 99.9 percent accurate or something like that it took 2 weeks to get the results but it came back negative for ds and at my 25 week u/s the cysts were gone as well. so don't over think or stress I know it's hard not to being a mommy but just stay positive :)
Welcome dear ... I'm a first time mommy too . My Ariel due in sept. Hope u have a blessing preggie of 9 mths😃
@harata87, I've heard that test gives alot of palse positives! thank you for the info
A lot of times you can get a false positive with the quad screening . Most people wait until you have your anatomy scan because they can detect soft markers for DS and other abnormalities than if they have a positive on both accounts go for the more invasive amino test :)
Welcome to Preggie 😊 can't help you out with your question, though. Sorry /:
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...

Transgender children
So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are...
Thanks for the support ladies! I go for my anatomy scan next week to see what's going on. My OB said it could just be I'm lacking a certain protein that happens sometimes with DS. he said my numbers were so low that I have a LESS than 1% chance of it being DS. He basically said "You have more of a chance of getting hit by a bus on your way home" haha but you know you still worry. I just want to know so I can prepare myself. Its nothing like I would terminate the pregnancy or give her up, I just want to be better prepared for the extra adjustments is necessary for a special needs child. if that makes sense?
