Sorry, not pregnancy related, but maybe someone can help.
Anyone know anything about real estate/realtor ethics? My parents were interested in buying a house, but had some concerns about safety because the city has a reputation for having a high crime rate. Their realtor tried directing them to the FBI Uniform Crime Reporting site, but they were having a hard time following along, so instead she sent them an excel file that she supposedly downloaded from the site, showing crime stats for all the cities in Maryland. They sent it to me to look at, and it didn't seem to right, considering all I had read about the area. I went to the site to try to find where she found the info, and when I did find it and compared it, literally everything in that table was the same except the crime stats for the city they were looking at were all drastically lower in the document she sent them, compared to what was shown on the site. Not only that, but the excel file is downloaded only as a read-only version, so there's no way this could be changed accidentally. This was going to be a cash deal, and she literally had to do maybe 30 minutes of work. A decent commission was on the line, and I'm sure she was going to do whatever it took to make this deal.
Can she lose her license or her job for this? or is this a common thing in real state? My parents are the nicest and most trusting people I know and I am so mad that she tried to take advantage of them.
What can we do???
