Question: who else was told that their baby has to sit rear facing until they are 2 years old?

It isn't a law, but it's recommended now that children sit rear facing until at least 2, if not longer. It really is safer for them, 5x safer actually. Their bones are still soft and not fused completely, and rear facing protects those fragile bones! My daughter turned 2 in April and she is still rear facing. If you're trying to decide if it's right for you just look up some facts and statistics, it might help you make up your mind. One fact that always suck with me is a child's neck can stretch up to 2 inches in a forward facing accident and it only takes a 1/4 inch stretch to break their neck.

@klachappelle okay didn't know that. thanks for correcting me. I have 2 other kids that are older when they were little it was 1 so that's why I thought it was 1.

@kainesmommy, Yeah they just recently changed in within the last 6 months I believe.

Well here in Texas my dr said it was a law and he had to be rear facing at least until 2, I'm okay with that. But I was just wondering. @kainesmommy @klachappelle

it's two years or a certain weight

It's law that 1yr _minimum_, but highly highly recommended until at least 2. (I'm in Texas too.) It's so much safer even if they have long legs. I'd rather a broken leg than internal decapitation or spinal severance.
