Has anyone had a really difficult time choosing Godparents for their children? My younger sister JUST turned 18 recently and I feel that she might be too young. She has a lot of big life choices to make in the next few years. However, I don't have anyone else that I'd like to name the GodMOTHER (we have a Godfather picked out). She knows this and feels like she is absolutely ENTITLED to the position - making me think she doesn't deserve it EVEN MORE. I'm at a loss 😩

I was on the same boat with my sister. She's 21 and does not have her life together. I had chosen one of my closest friends to be the god parent because she's finished school and has her life together. My sister had thrown a fit saying that she should be the godmother since she's family.. But honestly I made the decision to go with my friend because I know that she be able to handle to responsibilities given

@mlmckeeth, you don't have to have Godparents if you choose not to. I mean if it's your sister she's already the aunt

Just a lil info I also had this problem with my son and was told that if something happened to the parent God parents don't matter anymore unless you have a written will , it used to be that if something happened to you the God parents where first in line to get the child now it's who ever the courts see fit if u don't write that will so even if you do or don't decide to pick your sister make a private will for who you truly see fit to care for your child
