Question.
I know the typical acceptable age to introduce solids to a baby is 6 months, but have any of you done it earlier and had success? Meaning no upset tummies, diarrhea, constipation, etc? What about rice/oatmeal cereal in the bottle; when did you start that?
@mommyofkaiden, yes! She had one at three weeks, then at 6, then at 8 and now she's almost 10 weeks and having the same signs!! So crazy! We've done oatmeal in her bottle the passes two nights and it got her full and helped her sleep. I was so tempted to give it to her for a mid-day feeding today because she was inconsolable whenever she was awake and not eating today. But I decided not to, don't want to shock her system with too much of it in one day. Thanks for answering my questions momma 😁
Yes! @arielle, I've noticed that every two months Kaiden will eat more often. And every two months they do thru growth spurts, so it probably is one. Try the cereal in the bottle first, but not to thick, hopefully that will help☺️
@mommyofkaiden, oh okay so you put it in a bottle at 2.5 and when he was 4 months you spoon fed it to him. I was curious how other moms did it cuz my daughter has been insatiable all day! Eating every hour. I feel like It can't be a growth spurt, but idk. Very distressing 😓
Not until he was 4 months. I put like two ounces of milk in a bowl and then mixed the cereal in it until it was thick but not too thick and fed it to him like that. @arielle
I just did it at night time. And then when he got older I did it in the Morning too.
@mommyofkaiden, when you started your baby on cereal in the bottle at 2.5 months, was it every feeding throughout the day or just the night time feeding before bedtime?
@soontobemommy, @iloveni0820 wow, that's awesome! I figured they weren't supposed to have solids that early because they're digestive systems were still too immature to handle it. Thanks ladies!
yes. started with bananas then carrots. the reason why they say not to feed them too early is so they don't develop an allergy to w.e you're feeding them. my daughter perfectly fine. she is a healthy baby and her doctor is very proud of her development. she is perfectly fine too this day
Yes I did actual baby food. But also my some weighed like 17 pounds at 3 months and he was watching us eat and would open his mouth, so he seemed ready for it and he did great. @arielle
@iloveni0820, @soontobemommy @calliesmom solids at 3 months?? That seems so early! I never would've thought it was possible for a baby's system to be ready that early. I might start putting oatmeal cereal in a night time bottle before bed when she's 3 months. So you ladies did actual baby food in the jars?
yes, we put cereal in her bottle at about 2 1/2 months, Dr said it would be fine, with rice they do get constipated more often then oatmeal but we started introducing solids at 3 months and she still hasn't quite got the whole spoon thing down so we put it in a bottle sometimes with a little bit of juice or water to thin it out a bit , but she's happy and healthy and makes regular bowel movements
I put cereal in his bottle starting at like 2 1/2 months, and then I started baby food at almost 4 months and he had no problems.
No problem!! I like helping! @arielle
