@mommytwobe, you can switch to your favorites feed and see all your friends. In the newsfeed, it's everyone. And if you block a user, you don't see their posts again. Does this help?

There is a main newsfeed where you'll see everybody's posts from all over the world whether you're friends with them or not and there's also a favorite feed made specially for the people you decide to follow

You go to your favorites and that's where you see the people you are followings post
