I cannot wait to change my obgyn. The one I have has no idea what she's doing. So I have hypothyroidism and when I got pregnant I had just gotten my thyroid levels to a low normal range. My obgyn notice my levels were normal and so she decided to lower my dosage from .75 MG to .05 MG which is a huge difference, I felt the impact right away with returning symptoms of fatigue. So today she tells me that my thyroid levels are low so she wants to lower my dosage again, which makes no sense. If my levels ever got low the doctor I see specifically for my thyroid raises my dosage. I can't wait to get rid of her, I had even read that pregnant women with hypothyroidism sometimes may even need to raise their normal dosage.
I have hypo. My advice would be to let the endocrinologist to monitor your thyroid function and let him adjust your pills. Let him know you're pregnant. My obgyn sent me to endocrinologist right away and sticks to his recommendation. The only thing the obgyn does is making sure I have my TSH and FreeT4 levels checked every month (blood test each time I visit him) and if anything goes out of control he should send me back to endocrinologist for consultation. My dosage increasing as my pregnancy progress, it's not by some general rule, but directly according to my blood work.
Ok, thanks so much I will make and appointment with him :)
