Moms of the US, unite!·В ожидании первенца

Ladies,

There has been some discussion today on posting photos that are possibly TMI. We place a lot of responsibility on the user making the post and uploading the photo. Before you publish a questionable photo, ask yourself whether or not would like to see it yourself if it were someone else's post. If it's borderline or you think it may gross out some moms, we had some great suggestions from our community earlier on how to deal with it. In these situations, if you cannot just describe what you want to post about and feel that you must post a photo, please write a description as your main post, asking for help or advice, then post the photo separately as a comment after the the main post is submitted. This way, members who wish to can take a look, and others who would rather not do not have to see anything.

We have new members every day, who may not see this post. So if you do see a new photo that you feel has crossed the line, please notify us or complain, rather than tell the mom she should have known better. Moms need support, not negativity.

Thanks for understanding.

@gamermommy83, we welcome all nursing photos. 😊

Does preggie have an official policy allowing nursing photos? Because there's always the few that take the stance that it's gross to them, and many nursing moms like to share their beautiful photos.

the mucus plug is a bit much. I think a description is enough.

I think rather than keep going about same thing whether it was wrong or right we should keep moving on. Like preggie_usa said this is not aimed at anyone. Same problem has been happened lots of times here. The point of this post is to make everyone happy. Even though something that might not disgust or gross me out doesnt mean it wont disgust someone else. ✌️

I agree, I think a description in the post and picture in the comments is the best way to do it, if you really want an opinion on something that could gross someone else out. True, some things are just a fact of life, but that doesn't mean I want to have to see it full size on my screen as I'm trying to scroll past it. I don't think it's a big deal to put certain photos in the comments as a courtesy to others who may have weaker stomachs. Honestly, I mostly come on here for the food and baby pics.

@awn0710, this post is for general photo posting not aimed at that particular photo. And we would like the drama stopped rather than revisited.

yeah I do agree. I've seen some questionable things on here but honestly I've learned so much these last 8.5 months about my body nothing is surprising to me anymore lol @awn0710

All I'm saying is this is a mommy app, aka we are all females. Who all have a menstrual cycle every month through out our lifetime...which means we see blood every time we use the restroom for 5-7 days straight, I don't see how someone posting a picture of blood is offensive! Agree ladies!? @lc @fallwithautumn @firsttimemommy89 @queendavis @elenaj @summer2015 @lovelyadre @preggie_usa @nelianiz_elize @septson @martinasmall @kateferrera

@nelianiz_elize, we've had many questions about photos and this was a general guideline. It was not aimed at anybody. 🌸

@fallwithautumn, totally agree with you. A lot of us rely on each other for answers if we haven't been through it before ourselves. Before I had my son in December someone had posted a picture of what a mucus plug looked like, didn't bother me one bit, what it did do was inform me what I had to look forward to! I never lost my mucus plug at all but atleast I knew what to look out for if I did. If the picture or TMI post bothers someone, they should keep scrolling. I'd rather us Moms be open and honest with each other than not knowing what to expect OR be of some sort of help to someone who hasn't experienced it before.

I under stand that, I promise i do. I LOVE this community and am so glad to be apart of it. However, It sounds like her need and want for answers and help is being over shadowed by those who can't handle the facts of life. Her need to ask is just as valid and important as their need to avoid, and they could have by scrolling.

As we all go on these individual journeys, we will connect and disconnect constantly but we all have to keep moving forward and preventing a mom from asking what she saw as an important question because someone might not like it is just silly. Its just part of life. We are all going to deal with things we don't like or want to see, its just life in general.

@fallwithautumn, your point is valid. However, there is a responsibility to the entire community and the issue isn't limited to this particular post. We have had cases of photos that do reflect the darker realities of motherhood but which were deeply disturbing. While motherhood encompasses the full reality of life and, sadly, death sometimes, the nature of the photos posted by and to our community needs to take account of mothers who are dealing with their own emotional highs and lows, and who may be unnecessarily upset by particularly graphic photos. The truth is vitally important, but at such a vulnerable time in our lives as pregnancy and early motherhood, not everyone wants to be exposed to the most challenging moments, and we need to moderate the posts to take into account the feelings of our entire community.

I'm a little disappointed in this. I understand both sides, but I still stand behind the original poster. What she posted was in no way graphic or "disturbing". If you're on here, you're likely a parent who has and will see worse. It was a totally valid and acceptable post for a FTM who may have had no where else to turn. People need to grow up, life isn't always rainbows and sunshine. Sometimes its gross, dark and dirty, welcome to motherhood and life in general.

If we can't use this as our safe place for questions we may be shy about, then why are we here at all?
