I'm 15 almost 16 weeks pregnant.
I asked my baby's father to sign over his rights because I want to move and I don't want him to come after me later. He has said from the beginning that he "hates" the baby and wants nothing to do with it. But today when I asked him he told me no. That he doesn't know what he wants now....I'm so confused. I still have feelings for him and stuff and so it makes it hard. Any other mommies go through this?

When you give birth to your baby give him or her your last name. That way if your baby's father tries to take you to court not only does he have to get a paternity test but it will take longer for him to even get anywhere in the court systems. I will be doing this on Wednesday when my baby is born. My baby's father messaged me back in October saying he didn't want anything to do with our child, I kept the messages. KEEP any and all conversations you have had with him so you can build a more solid case against him if he does in fact try to come after you. In the end, by giving your baby your last name he can't charge you with kidnapping or anything because the baby has YOUR last name. That can be changed if something happens and you choose to be with your baby's father closer or after delivery, but it's a starting point at getting away from him and keeping your child safe.

Maybe you should wait till the baby is born.. see if he wants to be there... then see hownhe reacts to his baby in his hands :)

Yeah, but I don't want to do the whole I'll be there for a couple months then I won't be bullshit. It's not fair to me or the baby...I want to move and move on and start a new healthy life. But I get what you're saying.

Мама двоих (8 лет, 14 лет)
I had my 1st at 15 and his dad was there while I was in a relationship with him. After that he became a deadbeat, my son is 14 and he has nothing to do with him that's his loss though bc my son is a great kid. Like @jaspersmama61315 said give baby your last name, also if the father is not present a hospital with proper ID he can't sign the birth certificate. The like she said he would have to go through court to get added, but I don't think he has to do a paternity test unless he wants one. @mommaliyah95

He is probably just saying that to make things hard on you and not giving in to what you want. I would just leave him off the birth certificate and give your child your last name. This is what I did because I didn't want my DD "dad" to treat her like she was something he did not want. Plus I knew there wasn't a sunny day in hell we would get back together and did not want to put up with his girlfriends/wife trying to "parent" my child.
