Question: my husband and I have been house hunting for a few months and I just found a house that is everything we are looking for. Seriously it's perfect. But, my realtor just informed me that a sex offender lives on the same street. He is now 70 years old, his offense was 20 years ago with a 10 year old girl. And has not been in trouble since. Anyways, now I don't know if we should even bother looking at the house. What do you ladies think??

Still get the house . I wouldn't worry about that old man . Old man will get knocked the hell out if he try to come near your kids . 😩😂

@junebaby, so sorry that happened to you. It's true that you really don't know who you can trust. That's why I was terrified when I found out we were having a girl. I want to do everything I can to protect her, but I know it's not that easy.
Yes 1 in 3 people are sexually abused at some time. It happened to me at 6 years old by a neighbor. His mother was our school cafeteria lady. My mom was a victim by two of her family members. You never know who you can actually trust. @caracross1
@junebaby, and that's something I would teach my daughter anyway, regardless of who lives by. It's a scary world we live in.

@caracross1, I haven't searched around our new house but at my old one I had like 3 nearby. I just watch my kids like a hawk and talk to them about strangers and they don't go in people's houses that I haven't known for awhile.
@junebaby, that's what I'm thinking. Just found out there are 2 on the registry that live in my neighborhood now. At least that info is public so we can be aware.

People make mistakes whether big or small. You know nothing about this man. He probably just wants to peacefully be left alone. Your kids will know safety. We all have skeletons and people are put on that list for so many reasons (some that are just wrong). God brought this house to you a reason. I say go for it. If you are always looking at houses by judging the neighbors you'll never find one and for all you know those "perfect neighbors" aren't so perfect once you are there.
honestly I can see how that's awful. but if that's the perfect house for you, just be catious. it's hard to find a house, especially one you like all the way around. I'm not saying it's fine to live close to one, but you get what I'm saying. hopefully! 😂

My opinion is hell no. 16 year old is still a kid. Kids now a days want to be grown so bad and be in adult relationships and situations. I know when my daughters are 16 and they tell me they are dating an 18 year old. I will surely flip my lid.
