Question for anyone who has had to meet with a genetic counselor and get a level 2 ultrasound. Did…

After my first ultrasound I had to meet with a genetic counsellor bc they said my baby's fluid around his neck was more than "normal," they scared me and told me he most likely will have down syndrome. I was devastated... So I got a blood test done to check for chromosome abnormalities, and 2 weeks later it came back fine. They then told me I wasn't in the clear yet until I had my anatomy scan. But after that scan I let with the counsellor again, and she told me all way good, baby looked perfect and that I wouldn't need to meet with a counsellor again. Definitely a scary experience.

@jacksonsmommy8715, we are already at a 1:41 risk for Trisomy 18 but we have to meet the genetic counselor first then the ultrasound im just worried that they wont tell us anything and I have to wait longer until I meet with my regular doctor

I think you will just have to decide on a test method and then wait for results. But I'm not sure. I wish you and baby the best!

I did. the techs can't tell you anything besides what they are looking at. the councilor will go over the finds results and odds and the different conditions and outcomes and what not with you. mine was super awesome

@steph11, well we have an appointment with the counselor first at 12:30 then ultrasound at 1:30, but nothing after is scheduled so will they still tell us? I will have already waited 2 weeks by the time this rolls around so u really do not want to wait longer!

that's weird. I don't know I had the ultrasound first then met with a counselor I had a app for a amino but I opted not to get it after the results of my ultrasound

@steph11, ok thanks! Guess I will have to wait my one more week to see, it would be awful cruel to make a person wait any longer!

you shouldn't have to wait by my understanding hm that makes no sense to me
