So my OB. Considers week 13-26 the 2nd trimester. But I keep reading all this crap online about week 14 starting the 2nd trimester. What does everyone else's doctors say!?! Also. Half of my apps say I'm in the 2nd trimester. The other still say first trimester!

It took me a minute to figure out how the f there could be such a discrepancy when it's just math?! :-/
There s 52 weeks in a year which means 4.3 weeks per month, the extra .3 you aren't counting if you use your methodology thus the discrepancy. Then if you take 4.3 weeks per month times 9 m weeks! This is why some docs count the 13th in the first. If you look at a calendar you will see not ONE month is 28 days (4 weeks exactly except Feb) and why you have to add the extra days in. Most months are around 30-31 not 28 (4 weeks * 7 days = 28 days for 4 weeks). Make sense?
Well 36 weeks is 9 months. But most people can be pregnant all the way up until 40 weeks. And 40 weeks is 10 months! So week 37 is 9m1w and 38 9m2w and ECT! @danamarie
I guess you have to figure months aren't exactly 4 weeks long so (look at April +2 days, March +3) so you need to bump it up so that 13 weeks is the 1st trimester otherwise you'd be pregnant for longer than 9 months...

Month 2: 5-8weeks
Month 3: 9-12weeks
TRIMESTER 2
Month 4: 13-16weeks
Month 5: 17-20weeks
Month 6: 21-24weeks
Month 7: 25-28weeks

Month 8: 29-32weeks
Months 9: 33-36weeks
Month 10: 37-40weeks
i just go off that pic its easy to remember
cause usually they say 1-4 weeks is month 1. 5-9 is month 2. and so on cause there are 4 weeks in a month. but everyone says different things
@scarlettnikol, this is so interesting. So I wander why my OB considers it weeks 1-12 in first trimester. And so does several of my apps! So strange!

well I looked at other charts and they look just like this one too. even my doctor approved this one. you're prego for 40 weeks not 39
If you go by this chart. That saying month 1 is 4months long. Month 2 if 4 months long. And month 3 if 5 month long....

okay mommas this is my first baby and I'm so confused at what trimester I will be in tomorrow. I have read that 13-27 is 2nd trimester and other pages say that 14-27 is 2nd trimester. I will be 13 weeks tomorrow is that considered 1st or 2nd trimester?!?
